MBF at a glance
Programme overview
MBF was designed with IIBF for people already working in banking or wishing to join it, and IGNOU also describes it as suitable for fresh graduates. Its stated objectives are to understand banking and finance concepts, build a competency-based approach, prepare good finance professionals, and develop skills for the profitable operation of banks and financial corporations.
IGNOU says the programme opens doors to roles in banking, financial services, investment management and corporate finance, including risk management, portfolio management and financial planning.
Eligibility
A bachelor's degree of at least 3 years' duration with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category). The 2026 prospectus says no entrance test is needed. Applications are made online on the IGNOU admission portal.
Note: a 2021 news report mentioned a stricter CAIIB-plus-experience criterion. The current IGNOU page and prospectus show the general graduate criterion above, so rely on the latest prospectus.
