Study material

IGNOU provides self-instructional printed material and digital copies, organised into blocks and units with self-check questions. Digital copies are available on eGyanKosh. Counselling sessions at study centres are supportive but depend on your centre.

Assignments

General IGNOU practice: Each course has a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) of 100 marks. Assignment booklets are published on IGNOU's website for each session. Write answers in your own words from the study material, follow the front-page format, and submit before the deadline and before you appear in the exam for that course.

  • Semester-wise assignment PDFs are published per admission cycle.
  • Keep a copy and the submission receipt.
  • The Project (MCOP-001) follows its own project guidelines instead of a standard TMA.

  • Start choosing a topic and guide early, ideally during Semester 3.
  • Submit the synopsis for approval before starting the report.
  • Read the latest MCOP-001 guidelines on IGNOU's website for format, submission window and evaluation fee.

Study tips for MCOM learners

  • Plan weekly study hours per course instead of cramming before the TEE.
  • Solve previous year question papers to learn the exam pattern.
  • Give extra time to MCO-05 (accounting) and MCO-022 (quantitative methods) practice.
  • Track assignment, exam-form and re-registration dates on the official website.
